BAGUIO CITY - Cops have arrested an Italian national who was growing suspected marijuana plants on her veranda.
The female suspect, who was not named by the police, said she thought she was growing Lagundi, a medicinal plant used to treat cough and asthma.
"They were given to me by an Igorot lady and said it's medicinal and she said it's Lagundi and suddenly these people [are] telling me it's not," the suspect said.
Authorities seized six pots of marijuana plants.
The suspect's son and his friends were also arrested while drinking alcohol mixed with suspected marijuana.
According to investigators, a concerned citizen reported the alleged marijuana seedlings to authorities.
"May nag-inform sa atin, nag-text na may maingay na umiinom. Nung pumunta tayo, nakita natin na yung mga naka-plant na naka-pot na marijuana," sid Police Chief Inspector Marlo Evasco.
The suspects are under the custody of the Baguio City Police Office Station 3. They are set to face charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
