A Brazilian woman was arrested at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 yesterday after around 6.2 kilos of cocaine was found in her suitcase.

Yazmin Fernandez Silva, 20, had just arrived from Brazil via Dubai at around 5 p.m., said NAIA Customs district collector Ed Macabeo.

The cocaine, with a street value of P32 million, was found in a false bottom of Silva’s suitcase, he said.

Macabeo said this is the third time the Bureau of Customs arrested travelers arriving at NAIA from Brazil via Dubai.

The first one was a Filipino student caught carrying five kilos of cocaine and the second case involved two Hong Kong nationals and a Russian with 27.9 kilos of the drug.

Silva was turned over to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency.
