President Rodrigo Duterte on Tuesday teased Vice President Leni Robredo on her supposed love life.
After ranting about what he called the unsatisfactory delivery of housing projects to survivors of Supertyphoon Yolanda in Tacloban City, Duterte tried to inject some apparently at the expense of the Vice President.
"Pupunta rin ako kasi nandito si Vice President eh. Kung saan siya, nagpasunod-sunod ako. Biyuda kasi. Totoo, annulled ako. Pero may anak ako. Basta masuportahan lang," Duterte said.
"Ma'am, balita ko, may boyfriend ka raw? Sabi nila," he added, turning to Robredo who was also onstage.
"Do not be offended. Iyong sabi nila? Hindi iyon totoo?" Duterte pressed on.
Robredo smiled and shook her head in response.
"Kung totoo iyan ma'am may mapatay na congressman na bago... Para ma-biyuda ulit," Duterte said.
Duterte was married to Elizabeth Zimmerman until their marriage was annulled in 1998.
Zimmerman is the mother of his first three children—Davao City Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio, and Sebastian.
He has a common-law wife, Honeylet Avanceña, the mother of his 12-year-old daughter, Veronica.
Robredo, meanwhile, is the widow of former Interior Secretary Jesse Robredo who died in a plane crash in 2012.
They have three daughters, Tricia, Aika, and Jillian. —NB, GMA News
