Dr. Willie Ong sheds some insight surrounding the health issues afflicting President Rodrigo Duterte on December 14.
On his official Facebook page, Dr. Ong posted a video after his interview at DZMM with Noli De Castro. The topic of their discussion was the Philippine president's health, specifically the ailments Duterte admitted to having last Monday.
In his speech at the Wallace Business Forum in Malacañang, President Duterte revealed that he has frequent migrates, spinal issues and a rare disease called Buerger's disease.
The President dismissed rumors that he had cancer.
Dr. Ong made this 'public awareness and health awareness' video to educate the public on these issues plaguing Duterte.
These are some of the points raised in the video.
1. Buerger's Disease
-This rare disease constricts regular blood vessels causing veins and arteries to swell. Clots will then form which block blood from reaching the extremities. Constricted arteries then cause discoloration in the fingertips or toes.
-In severe cases, the disorder can cause extreme pain, may lead to skin discoloration, infection, and in severe cases, gangrene.
-Buerger's Disease is not life-threatening and is often found among heavy smokers.
2. Barrett's Esophagus
-Barrett's Esophagus is a condition often associated with Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD)
-People with frequent acid reflux may develop Barrett's esophagus - which causes stomach acid to damage the areas between the esophagus and stomach.
-Barrett's Esophagus is often found among heavy smokers or drinkers.
-Can be avoided by regularly drinking water, eating bananas and similar fruits
3. Spinal Problems
-A common ailment which may be caused by many possible factors.
-Dr. Ong advices people with spinal problems to avoid sitting and standing for too long - swap between standing-up and sitting-down after 30 minutes.
-There are many different kinds of headaches. A migraine affects an entire one side of a person's head.
-Migraines are caused by stress or lack of sleep.
