CHECK ► WOW! This Is What Davao Looks Like Today!

Davaoeños are not the only ones who are proud of their province. Filipinos nationwide and overseas are taking pride in Davao City.

Netizen Neo Lornoke shared a series of photos on Facebook showing the cleanliness of modern-day Davao City. The roads, overpasses, and malls appear very neat.

Many supporters of President Rodrigo Duterte want him to take credit for the great progress Davao City has achieved. Duterte was the long-time mayor of Davao.

He first reigned in 1988-1992, followed by 1992-1998, then 2001-2010. He served his last term as mayor in 2013-2016 before he won the Presidential elections last May.

People are impressed with the changes he made possible in Davao, especially when it comes to maintaining peace and order in the city.

According to data released by crowd-sourcing survey site Numbeo.com, Davao places 5th in the safest cities in the world in 2015 as it has a crime index of 18.18 and a safety index of 81.82.

Social media users commented on the photos of Davao's streets, wishing that someday the whole country would look like that as well.

Netizen Ira Bacali: "People are shouting sana magawa ni Mayor yan sa Pilipinas. Fellowmen, dito sa Davao City, na achieve namin yan because we worked hand-in-hand with Mayor. The only way na magawa niya rin yan sa country natin is if we will also discipline ourselves, so we can help him carry out his plans. He can't do it alone."

Netizen Susan Azurin: "Pwedeng mangyari sa buong pilipinas saan man ito kung mabibigyan ng pansin at isakatuparan ang programang pangkalinisan at pangkalusugan desiplina sa sarili kailangan kapag basura at kaayusan ang pag uusapan hopefully everyone need to do his own job."
