GOOD NEWS ► Davao City Opens the Country's First Formal College Inside a Jail This June!


The Philippine government has an Alternative Learning System (ALS) provided by the Department of Education, and it gives inmates the chance to finish  elementary and high school. But a recent development is now allowing the inmates of Davao City Jail to get higher education - while incarcerated!

GOOD NEWS ► Davao City Opens the Country's First Formal College Inside a Jail This June!


Recent reports have unveiled that construction is now on-going for the country's first formal college inside a penitentiary. 

According to Jail Chief Inspector Pio Rosero in a GMA News interview, the college in Davao City Jail would be able to cater 200 inmate students per semester.

The college will be offering Social Studies, English Language, Education, Psychology, and Information Technology courses, but technical and vocational courses will also be added in the near future.
