Recently, President Rodrigo Duterte announced that the drug problem in the country has reached an endemic level and that Cebu has the highest drug rate in the country. The president said Cebu’s drug abuse rate is at 60 to 70 percent. That’s a whole lot of addicts right there.
What has this got to do with Tomas Osmeña, you might ask. A lot. He may deny it but his fingerprints are all over the drug trade scene. Osmeña is friends with Peter Lim, one of the big drug lords that Pres. Duterte named.
He is also friends with police officers who are close to former General Marcelo Garbo, who was also tagged by Pres. Duterte to be involved in the drug trade. In fact, he was so close with Garbo’s close allies that he threw a tantrum when they were taken off their posts at the Police Regional Office in Cebu.
“The transfers have angered Mayor Osmeña, and he vowed to no longer be active in the fight against illegal drugs in the city by withdrawing the allowances of the police officers and personnel,” the Cebu Daily News reported in July 18, 2016.
Osmeña, before he joined the bandwagon and declared support to the candidacy of Duterte, endorsed Manuel “Mar” Roxas .
We all know how the named Roxas is tainted with stains of drugs.
We will explore more on this in the coming days. Stay tuned.
