Discrimination happens all over the world. Individuals who discriminate other people look at their appearance and judges them based on the society’s standard of “beauty.”
The people who are victimized by discrimination mostly include black-skinned individuals, people from the LGBTQ community, and the poor.
Here in the Philippines, discrimination often occurs too. Filipinos often judge other Filipinos based on how they dress which is why most citizens do their best to dress properly and buy clothes which are commonly viewed as the latest fashion trend.
An Igorot has gone viral lately when he was allegedly turned down by a bus he was supposed to ride on his way home. The reason: he was wearing his native outfit, “bahag”.
According to a concerned netizen who posted the photos of the bus and the Igorot, the driver apparently didn’t let the man ride even though he has more than enough money to pay for the ride.
The netizen said “Sya po yung igorot na hindi pinasakay ng driver ng bus dahil sa suot nya, kahit may pambayad at nakiusap si manong ayaw talaga sya pasakayin kawawa naman si manong, hindi makatao ang ginawa sa kanya, share po natin para mabigyan ng leksyon yung driver ng bus..”
Obviously, the bus in question received a lot of flak from netizens.
Others, on the other hand, wanted to hear the bus driver’s reason as to why he didn’t let the Igorot ride the bus.
