It is a fact that cheating on your partner is a taboo in many cultures. However, this is somehow add excitement in the plot of movies and inspiration of writing songs about break up.
But why do some cheat in the first place? It turns that there is a science behind it. It was said that 3% of mammals are monogamous which means that they stay with one partner their whole life. Humans also fall under this category.
Moreover, it was reported that the gene coding for a dopamine receptor plays a key role in cheating for couples. It is sometimes known as the 'happy hormone'. This is released after pleasurable activities like exercise, eating food, and orgasmic.
A study also claims that 50% of people who possess the long allele variant of this gene had cheated on their partner, compared to only 22% of people who have the short allele.
