In true Filipino telenovela fashion, police officers are now investigating a love triangle as the possible motive for the murder of an ex-beauty queen in Bulacan.
Earlier this week, Mary Christine Balagtas was shot in the left temple by two unidentified gunmen who posed as deliverymen.
The two shooters delivered a bouquet of flowers and a box of chocolates to the beauty queen . The victim was pronounced dead upon her arrival at the Our Lady of Mercy Hospital in Pulilan, Bulacan.
The victim's mother revealed that her daughter was the girlfriend of a married OFW.
P/Supt. Julio Lizardo said, “Sabi nung inay, wala naman silang kaaway… maliban lang dun sa boyfriend ng kanyang anak na may asawa”
The officer also said that they are now looking at the spouses as possible masterminds behind the victim's murder.
Additionally, he said that the gunmen were “guns for hire” as the victim's house was "cased” before the shooting.
Reportedly, the wife of the OFW who was having an affair with the victim has a history of calling the victim's mother to tell her daughter to leave her husband alone.
The victim's mother is scheduled to meet with a sketch artistin order to help identify the shooters.
She places partial blame on their subdivision's security as there was only one security guard on detail when the crime took place.
The mother said in an interview, “Sana po kung sino man yung walang pusong gumawa nito sa anak ko, sana naman maisip nila na hindi naman aso ang anak ko para patayin ng ganun ganun lang.”
